Throttle Potentiometer Test
See Figure 4-35.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-5.)
2. Remove throttle potentiometer. (See “Throttle
Potentiometer” on page 4-65.)

3. Measure resistance between terminals (2 and 3).
Resistance must range between 3710 and 6890
ohms.
Is resistance measurement within specification?
YES Proceed to step 4.
NO Throttle potentiometer is faulty; replace the
throttle potentiometer.
4. Measure resistance between terminals (1 and 2)
while rotating stem (4). Low end resistance must
range between 18.9 and 35.1 ohms. High end
resistance must range between 3710 and 6890
ohms.
Is resistance measurement within specification?
YES Proceed to step 5.
NO Throttle potentiometer is faulty; replace the
throttle potentiometer.
5. Measure resistance between terminals (1 and 3)
while rotating stem (4). Low end resistance must
range between 18.9 and 35.1 ohms. High end
resistance must range between 3710 and 6890
ohms.
Is resistance measurement within specification?
YES Throttle potentiometer is good.
NO Throttle potentiometer is faulty; replace the
throttle potentiometer.
6. If throttle potentiometer was replaced, perform speed
paddle calibration procedure. (See “Speed Paddle
Calibration” on page 4-43.)
