Height-of-Cut Adjustment
See Figure 10-2.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-5.)
NOTES
• This procedure is only for mowers equipped with a
turf groomer. For adjusting the height-of cut for
mowers not equipped with a turf groomer, see
“Height-of-Cut Adjustment (HOC)” on page 8-17.
• Prior to adjusting the reel and groomer
heights-of-cut, check the bedknife-to-reel gap for the
cutting unit and adjust as necessary. (See
“Bedknife-to-Reel Adjustment” on page 8-14.).

2. Loosen wing nut (9) and turn screw (7) in or out to
obtain the desired reel height-of-cut (8) on gauge bar
(5). When dimension (8) is obtained, tighten wing nut
(9).

CAUTION
3. Loosen wing nut (10) and turn screw (11) in or out to
obtain the desired turf groomer cutting depth (6). The
turf groomer cutting depth should not be set more
than 50% below the height-of-cut.
4. Loosen screw (4) on each side of reel just enough to
allow inside knobs (3) to raise or lower the roller.
5. Place gauge bar (5) across the front and rear rollers
at one end of the reel.
6. Slide the head of screw (7) over the bedknife and
adjust knob (3) to close the gap between the head of
screw (7) and bedknife.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other end of the reel.
8. Check both ends of reel for proper adjustment and
tighten screw (4) on each side of reel.
9. Loosen screw (1) just enough to allow outside knobs
(2) to raise or lower the groomer.
10. Place gauge bar (5) across the front and rear rollers
at one end of the reel with the head of screw (7) over
the bedknife.
11. Adjust knob (2) to close the gap between the end of
screw (11) and groomer blades.
12. Repeat steps 10 and 11 at the other end of the reel.
13. Check that turf groomer is adjusted evenly on both
ends and tighten screw (1) at each end of reel.

Do not set the turf groomer blades at ground
level or below. Mowing at this level may damage
the machine as well as the turf. The Turf Groomer
is designed to allow maximum groomer depth of
one-half height of cut and is to be used as a
conditioner not a vertical mower.
