9. Carefully lift the ring gear out of the gear case (Fig.
15). Inspect ring gear teeth for any damage or abnormal
wear. Also, inspect inner surface of ring gear for exces-
sive wear caused by the rollers.
10.Remove the gear shim from between the gear case
and the ring gear location (Fig. 16).
IMPORTANT: When removing output hub from gear
case, be careful to not damage the seal in the gear
case. The seal cannot be serviced separately.
11.Turn the gear case over. Using a hammer and a suit-
able drift, carefully remove the output hub and bearing
by driving it in toward the center of the gear case (Fig.
17). The bearing has a slight interference fit to the bore
of the gear case. Take care to not damage the oil seal
in the gear case during hub removal.
