Smearing
Smearing is a ’trail’ effect produced by fast moving objects in a displayed image. Any fast moving object will look
blurred or smeared along the direction of relative motion.
What can be done ?
Because of its inherent characteristics (LC response time), liquid crystal based display devices are subjec
t to smearing on fast mov-
ing images. Because of its fast response time and refresh rate, LCoS displays are less sensitive to smearing than other comparable
raster scanning devices. However in order to decrease the smearing effect even more, a smearing reduction system is installed in
this projector. This smearing reduction system will reduce the ’trail’ effect in fast moving objects.

WARNING: During the switch off of the smearing reduction system the image will present a flicker.
Some people may have seizures or blackouts triggered by light flashes or patterns.
Anyone who has had a seizure, loss of awareness, or other symptom linked to an epileptic condition should
consult a doctor before using the projector with the smearing system enabled!
Stop looking to the image and consult a doctor if you have any of the following symptoms:
Convulsions Eye or muscle twitching, Loss of awareness, Altered vision, Involuntary movements, Disorien-
tation.
