What is Gray Level Definition?
When matching multi channel systems, the white level can be matched using Dynacolor and the black levels can be tweaked
using Black Co lor Matching. When comparing the gray levels of certain projector platforms there can be a significant difference in
the primary color distribution on different gray levels. This is typically the case for LCD and LCoS projectors; especially when they
reach a certain age they are more sensitive to this artifact.
GLD adjustment allows correcting the gray levels by tweaking the contribution of the primary colors to each gray level (i.e. color
balancing).
HowdoesGrayLevelDefinition work?
GLD allows you to adjust the contribution of the primary colors to different gray levels — or zones — to match different display
channels to a reference channel.
Applying a correction in a certain zone also influences the adjacent zones.
The hierarchical levels are selected in a way that the first hierarchy level influences the entire transition from black to white (0% to
100%) with the main correction done at 25%. Below you can find the table of the hierarchy levels and their influence zone.
