Setting Up the Reader
Follow the steps in this section to connect and get your reader up and commu-
nicating with its host.
Corded Model:
1. Install the Interface Cable.

Select the Interface Type (see page 15).
3. Configure the Reader starting on page 15 (optional, depends on settings
needed).
Cordless Models:
1. Configure the Base Station starting on
page 6

2. Charge the Batteries (see
page 14
).
3. Link to the Base Station (see

Install the Interface Cable (corded models)
The reader kit you ordered to match your interface should provide a compatible
cable for your installation. If not, contact Current versions of the Product
Reference Guide (PRG), Quick Reference Guide (QRG), the Datalogic Aladdin™
Configuration application, software/firmware and any additional manuals,
instruction sheets and utilities for this product can be downloaded from the
website listed on the back cover of this manual. Alternatively, printed copies or
product support CDs can be purchased through your Datalogic
reseller.Technical Support.
Seat the cable assembly into the
reader, aligning both the connector, aligning
the cable clip with its opening as shown in the insert portion of Figure 1.

Host Connection types are described below and illustrated in Figure 2.
RS-232 Serial Connection:
Turn off power to the terminal/PC and connect the
reader to the terminal/PC serial port via the RS-232 cable as shown in Figure 1.
If the terminal will not support POT (Power Off the Terminal) to supply reader
power, use the approved power supply (AC Adapter). Plug the AC Adapter barrel
