M300 and M300+ series – VG3.0
Admitting a patient
You can admit M300 patients at the ICS for central monitoring. However, for M300 patients, the ICS is the
primary display. Therefore, you cannot monitor patients with an M300 without also admitting them to the
ICS.
During the initial setup of the ICS, certain Main screen viewports (which contain the waveforms and
parameter values) are set up specifically for M300 devices. Such viewports are identified with the wireless
symbol and a pre-configured bed label. You can only admit an M300 to these viewports. All other
viewports are reserved for bedside-monitor patients.
Although demographic data are not essential for central monitoring, they are useful for patient
identification. Demographic data are initially entered during the admission process. You can always view
and edit the demographic data of patients at the ICS where they were originally admitted.
If remote control is enabled, you can view and edit demographic data for patients residing in the ICS
monitoring units. This is possible even if the patients are not currently displayed on the main screen. The
only exception is the patient category setting which cannot be changed remotely.
If a patient resides outside the monitoring units of an ICS, you can always view but not change any
demographic data.
Admitting a patient to a viewport at the ICS also admits the patient to the disclosure database. For
information about the disclosure database, refer to the Instructions for use Infinity CentralStation Wide,
Software VG4.0 or later.
CAUTION
The previous patient must be discharged before a new patient is admitted to make sure that the data for
the new patient is correct.
WARNING
Monitors in a care area may seem identical but may use different default alarm settings because of dif-
ferent profile assignments. After admitting a patient, always verify that the set alarm limits are appropriate
for the patient.
NOTE
For Infinity M300, default alarm presets are available only for adult and pediatric patients.
