Operating concept
Communication management
The following table summarizes some of the special circumstances that affect communication between
the ICS, the M300, and bedside monitors.
What happens if... Behavior
the ICS goes offline (for example, due to a
disconnected network cable)?
– The ICS stops displaying all patient data and
sounds a one-shot alarm.
– The ICS stops annunciating alarms for all patients.
– The ICS displays an Offline message in the view-
port of the bedside monitors.
– The ICS displays a Offline message in the view-
port of the M300.
the M300 loses its connection to the ICS? – The viewport of the patient at the ICS appears
blank until the ICS detects the M300 again.
– The ICS displays Offline in the viewport of the pa-
tient if the connection loss persists for more than 9
seconds.
– The ICS issues a one-shot alarm (an alarm that re-
mains active until the user acknowledges it). The
offline message remains in the viewport but the au-
dio and the flashing message do not return for that
patient.
an M300/M300+ detects a duplicate IP ad-
dress?
The ICS briefly displays the Duplicate IP address
message, and then displays the Offline banner for the
device.
you discharge a patient monitored by an
M300 from the ICS?
–The Discharged message appears in the viewport
of the patient at the ICS.
– The ICS labels any previous disclosure patient as
'inactive'. and the record is stored temporarily but
does not delete that record.
