5.8.6 Consecutive defrost (CD) via CAN bus
All controller types with version V2.00 and higher except UK 100 E or KR 160 E
Function Description
The consecutive defrost (CD) via CAN bus covers the following functions:
Different refrigeration points organised into groups should start their defrost at different times. A common
application is the temporal distribution of the energy requirements generated by the defrost, together with the
shortest possible total defrost time for the store. At the same time, the time required for the completion of all
participating defrosts is kept as short as possible.
Whenever one of the defrost groups has finished defrosting, the next group may start defrosting. A wait time
can be specified for the period between two defrosts. The organisation of the defrost groups is carried out by
the consecutive defrost master (CD master). All other participants in the consecutive defrost are called
consecutive defrost slaves (CD Slaves).
It is possible to use multiple consecutive defrost masters that are independent from each other in one CAN bus
segment. In addition to the groups of defrosting controllers, there can be further controllers within the E*LDS
systemwhichindependentlyconductadefrost.
The number of CD masters as well as the number of controllers assigned to them is only limited by the
maximumnumberofparticipantsintheE*LDSsystem.
Within a consecutive defrost system (master and its assigned slaves), the sequence is established by group
numbers. The allocated group numbers are defrosted in ascending order beginning with group number 1. If
several controllers on one CD master have the same group number, they are referred to as a group (CD group)
and are defrosted at the same time. The group with the next group number is not defrosted until all the
participants in the previous group have completed the defrost and the possibly set wait time between the
groups has elapsed.
Execution or sequence of the consecutive defrost

The CD Master initiates a defrost of all the CD slaves in group 1. If there are no other CD slaves with the group
number 1, the CD Master defrosts alone. All controllers (CD Slaves) with other CD group numbers continue to
operateintheirnormalcoolingmode.
If the defrost termination temperature is reached by all the controllers of the CD group 1 or their safe defrost
times have elapsed, the CD Master initiates a defrost for the CD slaves with the next highest CD group number.
If a delay time "FA-Wartez" (menu 2-2-1 and menu 2-2-2) has been parametrised, the start of the consecutive
The CD Master always belongs to CD group 1!
