MediaCenter installation overview
Make sure to install and cable your MediaCenter system in the order listed.
1. Rack mount the system. See Rack mounting instructions on page 19.
2. Install components such as drives, power supplies, I/O modules (for the ChannelPort or MediaPort
7000), or bezels (for the Spectrum X). See Installing MediaCenter components on page 37,
Installing I/O modules in the MediaPort 7002 on page 38, and Installing the Spectrum X bezel on
page 35.
3. Connect to the MediaStore 7200 for additional storage (optional). See Connecting the MediaCenter to
the MediaStore 7200 on page 42.
4. Connect Spectrum X, MediaPort, or ChannelPorts to the MediaCenter. See Connecting I/O modules
to a MediaDirector 2252B or 2251B a MediaCenter 2200B on page 54.
5. Connect to SystemManager. See Connecting to the SystemManager on page 55.
6. Connect to a client system for file transfers. See Connecting to a client system or a Harmonic

7. Connect to an automation system (optional). See Connecting to an automation system on page

Spectrum X system overview
Review the system overview of the Spectrum X with internal storage to help plan your system before
installing.
A basic Spectrum X system with internal storage consists of the following components:
• One Spectrum X in internal storage configuration with up to two SDI cards and four SAS drives (2 TB
or 4 TB) installed.
• Interconnection Cables
• One Rack Mounting Kit
• One of the following management options:
◦ One SystemManager Platform or the software-only version of SystemManager installed on a
customer-supplied computer
◦ Spectrum Management, which runs on the Spectrum X, and is accessed from a customer-supplied
client computer.
• Latest version of the Spectrum system software
• One Ethernet switch
• DHCP server or a system with DHCP enabled.
• (Optional) one controlling application (for example, program automation system).
• (Optional) Monitor/keyboard.
