8.3 What is the nite volume model?
The nite volume model signies a calculation domain that has been segregated into a nite
number of elements (known as a mesh) in order to perform numerical calculations using the nite
volume method (FVM).
The RM2612 Resistance Calculation Software calculates potential distribution using the FVM in
order to calculate the interface resistance and composite layer volume resistivity. The nite volume
model is equivalent to a circuit consisting of a three-dimensional resistance matrix, as shown below.
