8.3 What is the nite volume model?
The nite volume model signies a calculation domain that has been segregated into a nite
number of elements (known as a mesh) in order to perform numerical calculations using the nite
volume method (FVM).
The RM2612 Resistance Calculation Software calculates potential distribution using the FVM in
order to calculate the interface resistance and composite layer volume resistivity. The nite volume
model is equivalent to a circuit consisting of a three-dimensional resistance matrix, as shown below.
