Table 6: Resolving Possible Issues During Setup
Problem
Possible Cause
Suggested Action
The biopsy needle suction fitting is
not connected to the suction canister
lid.
Connect the suction fitting to the canister.
The biopsy needle fitting is not
connected to the correct port on the
suction canister lid.
Connect the biopsy needle suction fitting to the
horizontal port marked "PATIENT" on the
suction canister lid.
The console vacuum line is not
connected to the suction canister.
Connect the console vacuum line to the port
marked "VACUUM" on the suction canister lid.
The spike on the biopsy needle
tubing is not inserted into the saline
bag.
Install the spike into the saline bag.
Defective biopsy needle.
Retain the biopsy needle. Record the lot number
and contact your local Hologic representative.
Retry with a new biopsy needle.
Biopsy device
connection error.
The biopsy needle is not properly
connected or difficult to attach to the
device driver.
Properly assemble the biopsy needle to the
device driver.
Make sure that the device driver is homed by
pressing the button on the Technologist
Display when prompted to do so. Make sure
that the needle gears are pushed all the way
forward before reinstalling the needle.
If this does not work, try a new needle.
If this does not work, try a new driver.
The device driver is not properly
connected to the console.
With the biopsy needle removed, disconnect
and reconnect the cord on the device driver into
the receptacle on the console.
Defective biopsy needle.
Retain the biopsy needle. Record the lot number
and contact your local Hologic representative.
Retry with a new biopsy needle.
Defective device driver.
Retain the device driver. Record the lot number
and contact your local Hologic representative.
Retry with a new reusable device driver.
