If the SWM has a port expander, the signal cables are connected to the AUX p orts on the
port expander as shown in Figure 4-20. When the p ort expander is shipp ed from the factory,
ten BNC shorting caps (HP part number 1250-0929) are put on the coaxial connectors, which
are named AUX11, 12, 13, 21, 22, 23, 31, 32, 41, and 42. After installing the signal cables,
which are connected to the VSs, VMs, CMU, or CMU84, keep the unused BNC shorting
caps in a safe place. The BNC shorting caps are used to check relay operations in the p ort
expander.
Figure 4-20. Connecting Signal Cables to the Port Expander
When you connect additional SMU cables (Option 341) to the A
UX33 or AUX43 ports, an
unnecessary tag must b e removed from the SMU cable. For example, if an SMU cable is
connected to the AUX33 port, you must remove the tag lab eled \4" from the cable.
The SMU cable must be connected to the FORCE terminal of the SMU. A triax co
ver (HP
part number 1250-1708) must be put on the SENSE terminal of the SMU.
