Installing and Customizing Your System
This section gives step-by-step instructions for installing and customizing HP BASIC/UX, HP
4062UX/F software.
1. Install HP BASIC/UX.
To install HP BASIC/UX software, see
Instal ling and Maintaining HP BASIC/UX
. This
section provides only brief instructions and explanations.
If your HP-UX system is congured into a diskless cluster, make sure to establish a diskless
cluster node (cnode) b efore installing the HP BASIC/UX system software. Note that you
must install the HP BASIC/UX system software in the cluster server.

Before installing HP BASIC/UX, go to

, which contains some important information for the currently
released HP BASIC/UX.
To start the UPDATE(1M) utility and load the HP BASIC/UX les from DAT or cartridge
tap e, use the following pro cedures:
1. Log in as a sup eruser byentering
root
after the
Login:
prompt as follows:
Login: root
After the
Password:
prompt app ears, enter the ro ot password of your system. The
password that you type is not displayed on your console.
2. To start the UPDATE(1M) utility,enter:
# update
After starting the UPDATE utilit y, follow the displayed instructions.
2. Install HP SICL 3.01 (HP 4062UX C Library for Series 700 Only)
If you use HP 4062UX C library (option 034) in series 700 computers, Hewlett-P
ackard
recommends to install
al l
lesets of HP SICL 3.01 by using
update
command as a
superuser. At least, install the following
three
lesets that are used in HP BASIC/UX 7.01:
PIL RUN
PIL PRG
PIL HPIB

3. Install HP 4062UX/F software.
The HP 4062UX/F requires HP BASIC/UX, whichmust be installed on the HP-UX system
before the HP 4062UX/F software can be installed.
If the HP 4062UX/F is congured in a diskless cluster, make sure to establish a diskless
cluster node (cnode) b efore installing the HP 4062UX/F system software.
The HP 4062UX/F system software is stored in cartridge tap es or digital audio tap e (D
AT)
cassettes. Table 5-3 shows the le sets of the system softw
