NOTE: There are sequential levels of cleaning. At the end of each level, the printer produces a Print
Quality Report. If streaks appear in any of the color bars on the report, continue with the next level of
cleaning. If the problem is solved, select Cancel.
TIP: Number each of the Print Quality Report pages in order to track print-quality improvement.
Clean the rollers
If the Print Quality Report shows smearing, follow these steps to clean the rollers.
Step one: Multifunction printers only—Clean the document feeder rollers
1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, select Support Tools.
2. Open the following menus:

Maintenance
●
Calibration/Cleaning
●
Clean Document Feeder Rollers
3. Select Clean Now to begin the cleaning process, and then follow the on-screen prompts.
Step two: Resolve Smear
1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, select Support Tools.
2. Open the following menus:
●
Maintenance
●
Calibration/Cleaning
●
Resolve smear
3. Select Start to begin the cleaning process.
This process will take up to three minutes as a page feeds slowly through the printer. Retain this page for
further print-quality evaluation.
Try a dierent print driver
Try a dierent print driver when printing from a software program and the printed pages have unexpected lines
in graphics, missing text, missing graphics, incorrect formatting, or substituted fonts.
Download any of the following drivers from the HP website: www.hp.com/support/pwcolormfpE77650 or
www.hp.com/support/pwcolormfpE77660.
HP PCL.6 driver
This product-specic print driver is for Windows XP 32 bit, Vista 32 bit, and Server 2008 32
bit operating systems. Not all features or page sizes are supported.
HP PCL 6 driver This product-specic print driver is for Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, Server 2008 64 bit, Server
2008 R2, Server 2012, and Server 2012 R2 operating systems.
