4.2.9.3 Vacuum Pump
The vacuum pump supplies vacuum to the pulsation system (4Effect) and
the teat cups. The pulsation system is used to massage the teats during
milking.
The vacuum pump is located in the machine room at the box side of the
ASTRONAUT A3 Next.
4.2.9.4 Compressor
The compressor supplies pressurized, clean and dry air to the milking
system. It has a compressor unit, a drier and a storage tank. The
compressor is installed in a frost-free and clean-air environment.
Compressed air is needed to operate:
• The entry and exit gates of the box
• The feeding system in the box
• Movement of the robot arm (all directions)
• The teat cups (tilt or release)
• The 4Effect shut-off sleeves (page 4-19)
• The disinfection system
• The water valves
• The 3-way valves (page 4-21)
• The sampling valve (page 4-21)
• The sampling shuttle (page 4-21)
• The twin filter (page 4-12)
• The buffer vessel valves (page 4-21)
• The milk tank valves.
4.2.9.5 Milk Storage Tank
The milk tank collects and cools the milk. Once every 2 or 3 days, the
truck from the milk company collects the milk. A hose is connected to
the main valve of the milk tank and the pump of the truck empties the
milk tank to the tank of the truck.
