Synchronization of Tag Set Update and User Program Execution
Period
The tag set update timing is synchronized with the execution period of the task to which the tag set is
assigned as a network variable. The tag set and the task to which it is assigned are determined as
follows.
• In
Setting for Exclusive Control of Variable in Tasks under Configurations and Setup - Task
Settings on the Sysmac Studio, tag sets containing variables assigned to the primary periodic task
are assigned to the primary periodic task.
• Tag sets other than the above are assigned to the priority-16 periodic task.
• All tag sets are assigned to the primary periodic task if the priority-16 periodic task is not existed in
the user program.
Precautions for Correct Use
For a tag set that contains variables assigned to the setting for exclusive control of variables in
tasks, whether or not processing is included in the I/O refresh processing time of the primary
periodic task depends on the setting. Consider the effect on task execution time and configure
the settings for exclusive control of variables in tasks.
Update Timing of Tag Sets
The tag set update timing is determined by the task period of the task to which the tag set is assigned
and the set value of the packet interval (RPI) as follows.

Update timing of the tag set
RPI ≥ task period At least once per RPI period, a tag set update and a
refreshing of the NX-series EtherNet/IP Unit are per-
formed on the CPU Unit.
RPI < task period At least one time per task period, a tag set update and
a refreshing of the NX-series EtherNet/IP Unit are per-
formed on the CPU Unit.
Additional Information
The tag set update is performed outside of the variable access time. Therefore, the tag set up-
date timing is not affected by the variable access time setting.
