Lasair II Particle Counter Operations Manual Page A-3
G. The Lasair II particle counter does not work on AC power.
Try the following steps:
3 Ensure that the power cable is firmly connected at the power source and at the
Lasair II particle counter case.
4 Have an electrician test the power cable to ensure it is not damaged.
5 If you have bought the battery option, try running the Lasair II particle counter
on battery power.
6 If the power cable is connected properly, the power cable is undamaged, and the
Lasair II particle counter runs on battery power (if you bought the battery
option), then open the fuse cover next to the particle counter’s power supply
module and remove the fuse.
7 Test the fuse for continuity. If the fuse has failed, replace it with the spare fuse
provided with the Lasair II particle counter. Be sure the fuse is correct for the
operating voltage.
If none of these steps work, or to order more fuses, call Instrument Service and
Support.
H. The Lasair II particle counter will not run on battery power.
NOTE:
When running on battery power, if the recharging
circuit senses that the battery charge is inadequate to support
sampling, the Lasair II particle counter will shut down
automatically.
1
Try operating the particle counter on AC power to determine if the problem is
in the battery system.
2 If the Lasair II particle counter does not operate on AC power, call Instrument
Service and Support.
If the Lasair II particle counter operates on AC power:
1 With the particle counter connected to AC power, allow the Lasair II particle
counters battery to recharge for at least an hour.
2 Restart the Lasair II particle counter and look at the battery power indicator on
the display. If the battery power level is low, allow the battery to charge to over
50%. A fully discharged battery should recharge to 100% in three to five hours
in the optional battery charger. A fully discharged battery in the particle counter
will recharge to 100% in five to ten hours at room temperature.
3 If the battery is not recharging, disconnect the Lasair II particle counter from AC
power and try the following steps:
