Warnings and Cautions
6 Breathng hoses and bags used wth the absorber must
comply to BS EN ISO 5367 (Hoses) and BS EN ISO 5362
(Breathng Bags) respectvely
7 Do not reuse products desgnated ‘sngle-use’ or ‘sngle
patent use’
8 Do not connect a vacuum system drectly to the
adustable pressure lmtng (APL) valve outlet
A recevng system wth postve and negatve pressure
control functons must be nterposed Systems must
comply wth BS EN ISO 80601-2-13
9 Underfllng of the canster can lead to neffcent O
absorpton Overfllng may result n poor sealng of
canster due to cakng of granules and abrason of the
canster and seal
10 Refttng the canster
The canster seals at the top face Mantan the poston of
the rm of the canster over the outer lp of the seal as you
rotate the lever ant-clockwse to the vertcal, locked-on
poston
Falure to lock the canster n the fully closed poston,
may cause a system leak and/or a reducton n O
absorpton
11 Anhydrous soda lme s known to react wth some
anaesthetc agents Do not contnue to use an absorbent
f t has been allowed to dry out (or f you suspect t has
dred out) Always replace dred-out absorbent wth a
fresh supply of soda lme
12 Do not use the absorber wthout ensurng that t passes
all pre-use checks

Usng the absorber
1 ondensaton, whch may collect n the bottom of the
absorber canster s caustc and care must be taken not
to spll t on the skn when dranng
2 Knkng of the fresh gas hose s a known cause of
anaesthetc accdent The use of an unsutable hose
assembly can contrbute to ths stuaton

CAUTIONS
1 Flowmeter needle valves are desgned to seal wth lght
torque and may be damaged f tghtened excessvely
Do not force the control knob past ether the fully open or
fully closed postons
2 Open cylnder valves slowly to avod damage to pressure
reducng valves Ensure that cylnder valves are at least one
full turn open when n use
3 After use, always dsconnect the machne from the pped
gas supply and/or close the gas cylnder valves
4 Mechancal AHD system - The oxygen flow control s
restrcted to prevent the needle valve from fully closng
Ths ensures a mnmum basal flow of oxygen
DO NOT attempt to close the flow to zero
Do not overtghten
5 ompressed gas supples must be clean and dry
6 When the auxlary gas outlets are n use on a machne
usng cylnder supply only (e f the ppelne supply s not
n use), check flow rate requrements, and ensure that
adequate back-up cylnders are avalable
7 The requrements of IE 60601-1 apply to any devce
connected to the auxlary electrcal sockets Users must
be aware of the rsks of ncreased leakage currents when
equpment s connected to the auxlary power sockets
8 In the event of malfuncton of any devce powered by the
auxlary sockets, a traned engneer should check f the
crcut breaker has trpped
9 Do not apply excessve pressure to the dsplay screen
10 onnect the external communcaton ports only to approved
devces usng protocol provded by Penlon Ltd Refer to
secton 315

Read the nstructon manual suppled wth the vaporzer
before clncal use

out by Penlon-traned techncans
Servce and repar operatons must only be carred out by
an engneer traned by the manufacturer
15 The warranty for ths product s vod f the product s not
mantaned n accordance wth the servce schedule, and
the procedures publshed n the Servce Manual for ths
product
