Button To Tower Clearance Inspection
1. Inspect for any clearance between spider button to
tower. If clearance exceeds specification, replace all
buttons and inspect surface of towers. See “Spider
Removal” procedure.
Button to Tower Clearance:
0 - 0.005” (0 - 0.127 mm)
2. Inspect sheave surfaces. Replace the entire clutch if
worn, damaged or cracked.
Spider Removal
1. Install clutch in holding fixture (PN 2871358-A) and
loosen the spider (counterclockwise) using Clutch
Spider Removal Tool (PN 2870341).

NOTE: To maintain proper clutch balance and
belt-to-sheave clearance, be sure to reinstall the
original quantity and thickness of washers/
spacers beneath the spider during assembly.
