Remove valve stem seal with a valve stem seal
pliers such as the
SNAP-ON VALVE STEM SEAL PLI-
ERS (P/N YA8230)

Valve Inspection
ValveStemSeal
Inspection of valve stem seals is not needed
because NEW seals should always be installed
whenever cylinder head is removed.
Valve
Inspect valve surface, check for abnormal stem
wear and bending. If so, replace by a new one.
Valve Stem and Valve Guide Clearance
Measure valve stem and valve guide in three
places, using a micrometer and a small bore
gauge.
NOTE: Clean valve guide to remove carbon de-
posits before measuring.
Change valve if valve stem is out of specification
or has other damages such as wear or friction sur-
face.
