2.3.10.2 Topology for RSTP+
RSTP network and MRP ring
The redundant integration of MRP rings into an RSTP network is not possible without RSTP+
because parallel operation of RSTP and MRP on one port is not permitted. Only the devices
of the MRP ring that are connected to the RSTP network must support RSTP+. In the
example topology shown, these are the two devices RSW1 and RSW4. The other devices
must forward BPDUs.
The identification of the devices in the graphics refers to the respective function of the
device. "NSW" is the abbreviation for 'network switch', "RSW" is the abbreviation for 'ring
switch'.
