8.5 Communications processors for SIMATIC S7-1200

The communications modules for the SIMATIC S7-1200 connect S7-1200 controllers with
higher-level systems or a control room. The modules have either an Ethernet interface or a
mobile wireless interface (GSM or LTE). With the CP 1243-8 IRC a second interface can be
configured via an optional TS module. The Ethernet interface is intended for connection to
router. This allows to implement remote terminal units that transmit measured values and
alarms to the control room either cyclically or event-driven. As an alternative this interface
can also be used to connect the device to a network.
The devices have a rugged plastic housing for installation on a DIN rail or for wall mounting.
