Key Order of Precedence
The keys have an order of precedence/recognition when the DCR is booted. This means that if
multiple keys are saved to a USB ash drive, the order is as follows:
1. nxgemergency
2. nxgupdate
3. nxgrecover
4. nxgrecover.factory
Key Descriptions
• Parameter 7749 – Create Factory Key
– This keypad function creates a le named "nxgrecover.factory" on USB ash drive. It is a
last resort function as it will reset/delete all customer-specic DCR parameter settings and
load the oldest base system. This key is useful mostly for factory personnel when a
conguration or lesystem has been corrupted. The nxgproplus login password will be
nxgproplus after running this key recovery.
• Parameter 7750 – Create Restore Key
– This keypad function creates a le named "nxgrecover" on USB ash drive. It is a last resort
function as it will reset/delete all customer-specic DCR parameter settings and load the
newest base system ONLY if an update to the base software was performed. If an update
was not made, the key acts the same as the nxgrecover.factory key. This key is useful
mostly for factory personnel when a conguration or lesystem has been corrupted. The
nxgproplus login password will be nxgproplus after running this key recovery.
• Parameter 7751 – Create Emergency Key
– This keypad function creates a le named "nxgemergency", the active base system le (as
shown on Debug Tool – Software/Firmware Versions), active SOP hex les, and current
conguration le on USB ash drive. It is a rst resort function as it captures the current
state of the DCR. This key is useful mostly for customer-facing personnel when a
lesystem has been corrupted, or another DCR needs to be duplicated including the
conguration parameters and SOP le. The nxgemergency key can be used on another
DCR (or 10 other DCRs) for a total of 10 times. The nxgemergency key can always be used
on the DCR from which it was created. The nxgproplus login password will be nxgproplus
after running this key recovery.
• Parameter 7752 – Create Update Key
– This keypad function creates a le named "nxgupdate" on USB ash drive. It allows the
DCR to accept new base system software (an "init" le). Renaming "init" les IS NOT
SUPPORTED; if renamed, the le will be ignored. The user MUST make a copy of the
conguration le and SOP les so that you can re-load all customer-specic DCR
parameters. The nxgproplus login password will be nxgproplus after running this key
recovery.
