FIGURE D-3: Low Profile Socket Replacement
Replacing the IC Chip from a Low Profile-type Socket –
The IC socket consists of two parts – the main socket that is soldered
to the PC board and the keyed carrier for holding the IC chip; refer to
lower left corner of Figure D-3.
Note
The keyed carrier will only go in the socket in one direction.
To remove the existing chip, ground yourself by tapping your hand to
the metal surface on the analyzer. Place the supplied tool at a right
angle on the lower tab of the socket. Place your finger on the upper
tab. Apply even force to pull the chip and carrier from the socket, see
