Maintenance 5-4
The tool carriage uses four sliding surfaces on the Y guiding rail: two sliding surfaces at the
front of the guiding rail and two sliding surfaces at the rear of the guiding rail , directly
behind the visible sliding surfaces at the front. Although the shape of the Y guiding rail may
vary from model to model, the sliding surfaces are in the same place at the top and bottom of
the guiding rail.

5-5 SLIDING SURFACES ON Y GUIDING RAIL
Over time, the sliding surfaces and the rollers of the tool carriage can become contaminated
with accumulated residue.
Cleaning the sliding surfaces of the Y guide rail:
1. Switch off the machine.
2. Take a soft cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol or a mild detergent.
3. Clean the surfaces. When the tool carriage is in the way, carefully slide it to the left or right.
