Removal and Installation
See Figure 4-116.
NOTE
The diff lock solenoid is shown; all solenoids are removed
and installed the same way.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2. Disconnect the negative (–) battery cable at the
battery.
3. Locate correct valve.

NOTE
The control valve has a cover that blocks the solenoids,
4WD valve does not. The picture above shows the control
valve with the cover hinged up.
4. Remove cover (4).
NOTE
Label connectors before disconnecting to ensure correct
installation.
5. Disconnect connector (8) from solenoid (7).
6. Remove nut (6), and remove the solenoid (7) from
the valve (5).
Installation Notes
Clean cartridge of any debris or surface rust and
apply dielectric grease (Jacobsen PN 365422) to
cartridge before installation.
Install the solenoid by reversing the order of removal.
Tighten nut (6) to 4—5 lb-ft (5.4—6.8 N·m).
Glow Plug Solenoid
Removal and Installation
See Figure 4-117.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2. Raise the hood.
3. Disconnect the negative (–) battery cable at the
battery.

NOTE
Label all wires before disconnecting to ensure correct
installation.
4. Remove nuts (2 and 4) and disconnect wires (3).
5. Remove nuts (5 and 6) and disconnect wires (7).
6. Remove screws (1) and glow plug solenoid.
Installation Note
Install the glow plug solenoid by reversing the order of
removal.
