4.1. Bolt Torque
Table 31 gives the correct torque values for various hardware. Tighten all bolts to the torque specified, unless
otherwise noted. Check tightness periodically, using Table 31 as a guide. Replace the hardware with the same
strength bolt, contact AGI if you are unsure.

1. Torque value for bolts and cap screws are identified by their head markings. Established at 75% of yield
strength of bolt given the cross-sectional area.
Note
Torque figures in table are valid for non-greased or non-oiled threads and head unless otherwise
specified. Therefore, do not grease or oil bolts or cap screws unless otherwise specified in this manual.
When using locking elements, increase torque values by 5%.
