2. In the System Security screen, verify that the Password Status is Unlocked.
3. Select System Password. Update or delete the existing system password, and press Enter or Tab.
4. Select Setup Password. Update or delete the existing setup password, and press Enter or Tab.
NOTE: If you change the system password and/or setup password, reenter the new password when prompted. If you delete
the system password and/or setup password, confirm the deletion when prompted.
5. Press Esc. A message prompts you to save the changes.
6. Press Y to save the changes and exit from System Setup.
The computer restarts.
Real-Time Clock (RTC Reset)
The Real-Time Clock (RTC) reset function enables you or the service technician to recover Dell computers from No POST/No
Power/No Boot situations. The legacy jumper-enabled RTC reset has been retired on these models.
Start the RTC reset with the computer powered off and connected to AC power. Press and hold the power button for 25 seconds .
The computer RTC Reset occurs after you release the power button. Another way to reset is to remove the coin-cell battery from the
system board.
1. Turn off the computer and disconnect the power cable from the computer.
2. Remove the left cover.
3. Lay the computer on its right side.
4. Remove the coin-cell battery cover.
5. Remove the coin-cell battery.
6. Wait for one minute.
7. Install the coin-cell battery.
8. Install the coin-cell battery cover.
9. Lay the computer in the upright position.
10.Install the left cover.
