AlienFX board conversion kit (sold separately)
Brief introduction of the kit
The AlienFX board conversion kit is required to replace your Alienware system board with a third-party system board. The kit
enables you to turn on the computer and to control the AlienFX lights when a third-party system board is installed. The AlienFX
board conversion kit can be purchased through Dell site. For more information about the AlienFX board conversion kit , see the
documentation that is shipped with the kit.
What is in the kit?
The kit includes the following components:
● Three #6-32 screws
● Top I/O-USB dongle
● 14-pin fan power bridge cable assembly
● AlienFX power switch cable
AlienFX board conversion kit
CAUTION: The service warranty is valid only if the computer is using the systemboard that is shipped from the factory. Dell
does not offer technical support for system boards that are purchased outside of Dell.
NOTE: To install a third-party system board on your Alienware Area-51 AAT2250, you must purchase an additional third-party
AlienFX board conversion kit from Dell. The AlienFX board conversion kit can be purchased through the Dell site. For more
information about the AlienFX board conversion kit, see the documentation that is shipped with the kit.
Prerequisites
1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
Steps
1. Remove the system board.
2. Follow the procedure from the manufacturer and install the third-party system board by connecting the corresponding cables
and ports.
3. Connect the top I/O-USB cable to the dongle in the conversion kit. Connect the dongle to the 20-pin connector on the
third-party system board.
