13.2 Slide and Coverslip Standards
The following subsections present various standards and specifications for slide and coverslip
optical properties, slide and coverslip dimensions, barcode labels, and adhesives. All users
should become familiar with these standards in order to quickly identify slides not suitable for
machine processing.
13.2.1 Slide and Coverslip Dimensions
All specimens must be submitted on glass microscope slides that meet the specifications shown
in Table 13-1 and Table 13-2 (see also Figure 13-2). The thickness dimensions in the following
tables do not include mounting adhesive.
