There are three ways to identify the slide:
• Scan in the accession number directly from the slide using the barcode reader.
• Type in the accession number using the keyboard.
• Select the desired accession number located in the slide list illustrated in Figure 3-6 and
Figure 3-7.
3.3.1 Scan using the Barcode Reader
Use the following steps to identify the slide using the barcode reader.
1 Remove the slide from the slide tray.
2 Use the barcode reader to scan the accession number. When the slide is read, the
BD FocalPoint™ GS Review Station accesses the BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler information
in the database and will display the results in the list that match the corresponding barcode
and displays the processing results in the slide results data area.
3.3.2 Typing in the Slide Accession Number
Use the following steps to identify the slide by typing in the accession number.
1 Remove the slide from the slide tray and read the number on the label.
2 Position the cursor in the Enter Slide ID box, and delete any numbers already displayed.
3 Use the BD FocalPoint™ GS Review Station keyboard to type in the number from the slide
label. The BD FocalPoint™ GS Review Station will recognize the number and access the
information in the database. Your slide is listed at the top of the slide list and the processing
results are displayed in the slide results data area.

Take care to pick up the slide by the edges, so that fingerprints do
not get on top of the coverslip.
