13.2.5 Staining and Fixative Requirements

The slides must be stained with the Papanicoloau method.

13.2.6 Barcode Formats

The barcode types supported by the BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler are listed below.

• Interleaved 2-of-5

• Code 128 A, B, and C

• Code 39 and Code 39 Full ASCII

• EAN 128

• DataMatrix

• PDF417

• Aztec compact

Barcode labels must be durable so that they remain both human and machine readable under

normal laboratory handling and application to microscope slides. Slides may be exposed to and

immersed in the following solvents:

• Water

• Ethanol

• Xylene

• Hematoxylin in 4% Acetic Acid

• 0.5% HCL

• 1.5% NH

OH in 70% Alcohol

• Eosin-Alcohol (EA) stains

• EA-36

• EA-50

• EA-65

• Isopropyl Alcohol
