The slides must be stained with the Papanicoloau method.

Barcode labels must be durable so that they remain both human and machine readable under
normal laboratory handling and application to microscope slides. Slides may be exposed to and
immersed in the following solvents:
Water
Ethanol
Xylene
Hematoxylin in 4% Acetic Acid
0.5% HCL
1.5% NH
4
OH in 70% Alcohol
Eosin-Alcohol (EA) stains
EA-36
EA-50
EA-65
Isopropyl Alcohol
