22 Warnings and Cautions
The following table lists the warning and caution labels that appear on the BD FocalPoint™ GS
Imaging System. The table includes the text of each label, the general location of the label on the
instrument, and a description of the effect if the warning or caution is not adhered to.

Text of Caution or Warning Location Effect
Caution: Connect BD authorized
equipment only.
Power Strip Guard Non-BD equipment connected to the power strip may
adversely affect the performance of the system.
Caution: Do not place objects on
device.
Input, output, and
center doors
Objects placed on the device may fall into and jam the
instrument. Liquids may spill into internal components and
create a potential shock hazard.
Caution: Maximum tray capacity. Do not
overfill.
Input Hopper If trays are loaded above the indicator arrow on the inside
of the input hopper, the hopper door will not close, and the
instrument will not operate.
Caution: Slides must be free from all
obscuring material.
Input Hopper Slides with obscuring matter (such as dust, fingerprints,
cytotechnologist marks, and other optically significant
debris) may be rejected by the instrument.
Warning: Do not install trays until all
motion has ceased.
Input Hopper If trays are inserted before all moving parts have stopped,
injuries may occur, or the instrument may jam.
Warning: Do not remove trays until all
motion has ceased.
Output Hopper If trays are removed before all moving parts have stopped,
injuries may occur, or the instrument may jam.
Warning: Do not touch chain. Input Hopper If hands, clothes, or jewelry come in contact with the tray
moving chain, injuries may occur, or the instrument may
jam.
Warning: Maximum Weight: 30 lb Utility Shelf Objects or pressure exceeding 30 lb may cause physical
injury and damage the system.
Warning: Moving parts below red line.
Keep hands and objects clear.
Input Hopper If hands, clothes, or jewelry come in contact with moving
parts, injuries may occur, or the instrument may jam.
