17.3 Troubleshooting Guide
17.4 System Time
The workstation keeps time with its own internal clock. If the date and time shown on any report
are incorrect, contact BD Technical Support. (Note that the system’s clock may vary from a watch
or laboratory clock by a few minutes.)
Symptom Possible Cause Solution
The BD FocalPoint™ Slide
Profiler Main Window does not
appear after a restart.
Software error. Contact BD Technical Support.
Clicking the mouse has no
effect.
The workstation software is frozen. Contact BD Technical Support.
The system displays the
ERROR status
The system cannot complete calibration or a
component may have failed.
Reboot the instrument by turning off the power
to the instrument only. Wait 30 seconds and
turn the power back on. After the instrument
software reboots (about 5 minutes) the status
should change to OK. If not, repeat the reboot
procedure a second time.
If the system still does not respond, check the
system message for Cal Plate Dirt. If the
calibration plate is dirty, refer to Section 16.3.
Otherwise, Contact BD for further instructions.
The automatic backup
procedure fails.
No USB flash drive connected to workstation Insert a Microsoft Windows VFAT32 formatted
USB flash device into the USB slot on the
workstation.
USB flash drive is not formatted with Microsoft
Windows VFAT32 format.
Insert the USB flash drive in a windows
computer and format it with the VFAT32 disk
format.
USB flash drive is full. Replace the USB flash drive with a Microsoft
Windows VFAT32 formatted USB device.
Software error. Contact BD Technical Support.
The printer is not responding The printer is off-line or in an error state. Inspect the Message Window on the printer to
determine the cause of the printer error.
There is a paper jam. Refer to the manual that came with the printer
for instructions on clearing a paper jam.
The printer is off-line Press the On-Line button on the printer.
There is a printer malfunction. Refer to the manual that came with the printer
for instructions.
The times printed on the
reports are incorrect.
The internal system clock has lost the correct
time.
