The LPCA consists of the following steps:
1 Select and Process Slides from Laboratory
For each preparation type/coverslip type
combination, BD evaluates a set of slides routinely prepared at your laboratory. The slide set
will be comprised of slides processed from the current workload. The evaluation consists of
the following tests:
Specimen and Slide Preparation Quality Tests
This test determines if the slides are
adequately prepared for use with the BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler regarding sampling,
fixation, and coverslip application.
Slide Staining Quality Test
This test determines if the slide staining procedures used
in your laboratory are compatible with the BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler.
Algorithm Compatibility Test — This test determines if the slides are classified
correctly when processed by the BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler.
2 Test Results Integration
— After the results of all the previous tests are evaluated, BD may
recommend adjustments to your slide preparation and/or staining processes.
3 Process Acceptable — Once compatible procedures are in place, BD will set the operating
threshold values on your BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler. The operating threshold values
determine which slides will be classified as Review, QC Review by the BD FocalPoint™
Slide Profiler.
