Update Firmware
You can use the Update Firmware function to install
the latest version of the firmware on your machine.
You can update the current firmware of the machine
and download detailed step-by-step instructions for the
update process at www.bernina.com/990-support.
Prerequisite:
n The latest firmware data has been downloaded and
copied to the USB stick according to the update
instructions.
1. You can open the Update Firmware function in
the settings.
2. Update the firmware according to the instructions
on the screen.

Reset Settings
With the Reset Settings functions, you can reset the
sewing and embroidery settings or all settings to the
factory settings.

Delete Data
With the Delete Data function, you can delete all
personal data stored on the machine.
Save and Transfer Data

Save and Transfer Data
With the Save and Transfer Data functions, you can
save your personal data, e.g. settings and your own
stitch and embroidery designs, to a USB stick and
transfer them back to the machine.
14.2 Machine
Maintenance Intervals
To ensure that your machine remains in proper working
order for many years to come, BERNINA recommends
regular maintenance and care of your machine.
The maintenance intervals are heavily dependent on
the following factors:
n Frequency of use of the machine
n Nature of the fabric used
n Number of Stitches
n Nature of the thread used
BERNINA recommends maintaining the machine after
every 3–4 full bobbins have been used.
Task Maintenance Interval Measures
Cleaning the Machine Regularly, depending on usage of
the machine.

Wipe down the surface of the
machine and screen with a soft,
slightly damp microfiber cloth.
Checking the Machine Regularly, depending on usage of
the machine.

2. In case of damage, contact your
BERNINA dealer.
