Canrig PC3000-26 Automated Power Catwalk
The PC3000-26 (Figures 3-1 and 3-2) is designed to move tubulars between the pipe rack area and the
drilling floor. It consists of Catwalk, ramp, carrier assembly, and a series of tubular handling devices. The
Catwalk is controlled by a PLC through controls on a control console or from a wireless terminal.
The Catwalk has three folding hydraulic pipe racks and three indexers located on either side of the
Catwalk. A hydraulic power unit (HPU) and control console are located on the Drillers Side, flare end.
A ramp is hinged to the Catwalk and rotates up to rest on the drilling floor for operation. It is secured to the
rig floor for safety. The ramp has a carrier lift winch mounted on the underside.
The carrier is used to carry tubulars to and from the drilling floor. It is normally stored retracted flush inside
the Catwalk. When loaded with a tubular, the carrier lift winch moves the carrier up and down the ramp.
The carrier has three kickers and three safety pins on either side. The carrier includes a skate and skate
winch assemblies.
