Chapter 3: Using DynaVox Language Application Page Sets About Page Sets
ABOUT PAGE SETS
Your MightyMo/MiniMo device offers eight different pre-programmed
page sets, each one exclusively designed to meet the cognitive,
developmental and conversational needs of a specific individual. The
DynaVox Language Application page sets are a group of five page
sets developed by the DynaVox Technologies Education department.
The three Gateway Jumpstart page sets were developed by Joan
Bruno, Ph.D., CCC-SLP. These page sets have been created to
provide useful, appropriate vocabulary and a reliable page navigation
system for individuals who use a MightyMo/MiniMo device for day-to-
day communication.
Pre-programmed page sets should be used as a starting point for
device customization. A page set provides a platform from which to
begin communicating. To be most effective, these pages should be
enhanced with information about the individual and about the people
the individual talks to or about. Vocabulary words and phrases that
are used often by the individual should be added to the pages. The
DynaVox Language Application page sets feature many blank
buttons to make it easy to add original information.
Five of the eight built-in page sets offer buttons that are configured to
speak recorded messages immediately when they are selected.
Three page sets (Behavior Modification, Gateway 20 and Gateway 20
Adult) feature a Message Window, which allows more complex
phrases and sentences to be constructed. With these three page
sets, each selected button speaks its recorded message and then
inserts the message in the Message Window. When the Message
Window is selected, the messages in it are played in sequence.
If you opt to use one of the provided page sets, use the set that most
closely matches the needs of the individual using the device.
Once you choose the page set, you can go on to modify the buttons
and the pages, using the step-by-step instructions given in Modifying
Buttons on page 6-4 and Modifying a Page on page 4-14, so that
your buttons and pages contain the information that is most useful to
your preferences. You may also want to use some of the step-by-step
instructions in Customizing Interface Features on page 5-17 and
Customizing System Settings on page 5-39 to configure the device
