About Page Sets Chapter 3: Using DynaVox Language Application Page Sets
Gateway 20 Adult
Gateway 20 Adult is designed for adolescents and adults who
demonstrate limitations in cognitive-language performance.
Candidates for Gateway 20 Adult communicate in single- or multiple-
word utterances and typically do not use function words (e.g., “the,”
“this,” “with”) or word endings such as “-ing” or “-ed” as a part of their
spontaneous message generation. The vocabulary within this page
set is functionally based and reflects many of the activities of daily
living.
GATEWAY 20 MASTER PAGE: GATEWAY 20 ADULT MAIN
The main page of the Gateway 20 Adult page set includes categories
such as People, Verbs, Describing Words, Time Words, Foods,
Household and Clothing. Gateway 20 also includes Sentence
Development Links, which are designed to expand the size of the
core vocabulary and simplify the process of constructing a message.
Selecting a verb automatically opens a Things page, with associated
objects that the individual can use to complete a message. Links to
Describing and Colors/Shapes pages are available on each of the
associated Things pages, providing additional opportunities for an
individual to expand the complexity of his or her sentences.
A set of Conversation pages is included. The About Me page can be
customized to include general information about the individual who is
using Gateway 20 Adult. The Talk to Friends page offers expressions
that can be used in social conversation. The Talk About Holidays
page enables the user to talk about his or her birthday and the events
