4 Monitoring DC SAN Director system
components
This chapter provides the following information on interpreting LEDs to monitor the following DC SAN
Director components:
• “Monitoring Director blade status” on page 57
• “Monitoring Control Processor blade (CP8) status” on page 64
• “Monitoring core switch blade (CR8) status” on page 66
• “Monitoring power supply status” on page 68
• “Monitoring blower assembly status” on page 69
• “Monitoring WWN bezel (logo plate) and WWN card status” on page 71
Introduction
The DC SAN Director is engineered for reliability and requires no routine operational steps or
maintenance. This chapter provides information about determining the status of each component using
LEDs and CLI commands.
Monitoring Director blade status
To determine the status of a Director blade:
1. Check the LEDs on the blade.
• Figure 15 shows the FC8-16
• Figure 16 shows the FC8-32
• Figure 17 shows the FC8-48
• Figure 18 shows the FC10-6
• Figure 19 shows the FR4-18i
2. The LED patterns may temporarily change during POST and other diagnostic tests. For information
about how to interpret the LED patterns, see Table 9.
3. Type slotShow to check blade status.
Table 9 on page 63 describes the Director blade LED patterns and the recommended actions for
those patterns.
