For more information about Real-time Compression in IBM Flex System V7000 Storage
Node, as well as IBM Storwize V7000 and IBM SAN Volume Controller, see Real-time
Compression in SAN Volume Controller and Storwize V7000, REDP-4859.
6.2 Creating a new host
Before you can map any volumes to a host, the host has to be created first. Here, we
demonstrate how to create new hosts in IBM Flex System V7000 Storage Node.
It is assumed that all correct zoning on connecting SAN (IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis
I/O Module) switches has been completed between the host and IBM Flex System V7000
Storage Node. For zoning information and recommendations, see 11.5.4, “Zoning a compute
node for storage allocation” on page 496.
6.2.1 Creating a Fibre Channel attached host
To create the Fibre Channel host, complete the following steps:
1. Navigate to the Hosts tab of the IBM Flex System V7000 Storage Node GUI and click
New Host as shown in Figure 6-23.
