Removing/Installing the Elastomers (Suspension Forks
Only)
CAUTION
DO NOT use excessive force when removing/installing the threaded sleeve from/
onto the fork. Damage to the threaded sleeve may occur.
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE12.7.
Removing the Elastomer
NOTE:Onemountingscrewwillnotturn.
1. Usingtwoallenwrenches,turnmountingscrewsinoppositedirectionsandremove
onemountingscrewfromfork.
2. Removethethreadedbushingandmountingscrewsecuringthesuspensionforktop
totheelastomerandthesuspensionforkbottom.DONOTuseexcessiveforce.
3. Ifreplacingtheelastomer,discardtheexistingelastomer.
Installing the Elastomer
NOTE:Makesuretheelastomersitsinthetworecessedareasonthefork.
1. Positionthenewelastomerbetweenthesuspensionforktopandsuspensionfork
bottom.
2. Alignthemountingholesinthe
suspensionforktopandsuspension
forkbottom.
3. Usingthethreadedbushingand
mountingscrew,securethesuspension
forktop
andsuspensionforkbottom.
DONOTuseexcessiveforce.
WARNING
Use Loctite 242 when reinstalling the
mounting screw into the threaded bush-
ing. Otherwise the fork can become dis-
assembled. Possible injury or damage
could result.
4. ApplyLoctite242tothemounting
screw.
5. Reinstallthemountingscrewintothe
threadedbushingandtightensecurely.
