Removing/Installing/Repositioning the Axle Bushing
and/or Axle Plate
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE11.6onpage73.
NOTE:Inordertoobtainthedesiredaxleheight(rearseattofloorheight)performoneorbothof
thefollowing:
• Changetheaxlebushinglocationtooneoftenpositionsdependingonorientationoftheaxle
mountingplate.
•Repositiontheaxlemountingplate.Therearefiveaxlebushingmountingpositionsoffsetfrom
oneendoftheaxleplate.Repositioningtheaxleplatewillprovidefiveadditionalaxlebusing
mountingpositions.
NOTE:Repositioningtheaxlebushingand/oraxleplatewillchangetheseatdump.RefertoSeat
Dumponpage 91formoreinformation.
NOTE:RefertoChangingRearSeat‐to‐FloorHeightonpage 94foravailablerearseat‐to‐floor
heights.
NOTE:Bothaxlebushingsmustbeinstalledatthesameheightbeforeuse.
Removing/Repositioning the Axle Bushing and/or Axle Plate
NOTE:Ifremovingtheaxlebushingonly,followSTEPS1‐2.
1. Removetherearwheelfromthewheelchair.RefertoRemoving/InstallingRear
Wheelsonpage 67.
2. Removethetwojamnutsandlargewasherthatsecuretheaxlebushingtotheaxle
mountingplate.
NOTE:Thebottommountingscrewsarealsousedtomountanycamberspacersand/orthe
anti‐tipperbracketspresenttothewheelchairframe.Notepositionandorientationofhardware
forreinstallation.
3. Remove
thetwobottommountingscrewsandlocknutssecuringtheaxleplatetothe
wheelchairframe
4. Removethetoptwomountingscrewssecuringtheaxleplatetothewheelchairframe.
5. Performoneofthefollowing:
• Removing/RepositioningtheAxleBushing‐RepeatSTEPS1‐2toremovethe
remainingaxlebushing.
• Removing/RepositioningtheAxlePlate‐
RepeatSTEPS1‐4toremoveremaining
axleplate.
