To meet safety and electromagnec interference (EMI) requirements and to ensure
proper operaon, you must connect the chassis to earth ground before you connect it
to power. For installaons that require a separate grounding conductor to the chassis,
use the protecve earthing terminal on the switch chassis to connect to the earth
ground. For instrucons on connecng earth ground, see

Install the power supply in the chassis. For instrucons on installing a DC power supply in an EX4300
switch, see "Installing a DC Power Supply in an EX4300 Switch" on page 301.
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:
DC power source cables (14–16 AWG) with ring lug (Molex 190700067 or equivalent) (not provided)
Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2 (not provided)
Mulmeter (not provided)
A 14-10 AWG STR (2.5-6 mm²), minimum 90°C wire grounding cable, or one permied by the local
code, with a Panduit LCD10-10A-L or equivalent grounding lug aached (not provided)
Two 10-32 x .25 in. screws with #10 split-lock washer (not provided)
Two #10 at washers (not provided)
EX4300 switches can be congured with up to two DC power supplies. Aer you install at least one
power supply, you can connect power to the switch.
CAUTION: Do not mix:
AC and DC power supplies in the same chassis
Power supplies with dierent airow labels (AIR IN (AFI) and AIR OUT (AFO)) in the
same chassis.
Fan modules with dierent airow labels (AIR IN (AFI) and AIR OUT (AFO)) in the
same chassis.
Power supplies and fan modules with dierent airow labels (AIR IN (AFI) and AIR
OUT (AFO)) in the same chassis.
To connect DC power to an EX4300 switch:
1. Aach the grounding strap to your bare wrist and to a site ESD point.
