HowtheEngineBrakeisActivated
Whentheenginebrakeis"enabled"(switchineitherLOWorHIGHposition),yourengine
V-MAC®electroniccontrolsystemcommandsenginebrakepower(enginebrake"active")
onlywhenthefollowingconditionsaretrue:
Thefoot-operatedengineacceleratorpedalisnotdepressed.
Theclutchpedalisnotdepressed(manualshifttransmissionsonly).
Theenginespeedisatleast900rpm.
Iftheenginebrakeisactive,theenginebrakewillautomaticallybedeactivatedby
depressingeithertheacceleratorortheclutch,oriftheenginespeeddropsbelow900rpm.
Assoonasalloftheenginebrake"active"conditionsareagaintrue(takingyourfootoffthe
accelerator,forexample),theenginebrakewillagainbeactivated.Inordertodisablethe
enginebrake,simplyreturnthedash-mountedcontrolswitchtotheOFFposition.
DANGER
Theenginebrakeshouldneverbeconsideredasubstituteforthevehicleservicebrakes.
Theservicebrakesshouldalwaysbemaintainedingoodworkingorder,andshould
alwaysbeviewedastheprimaryvehicleslowingsystem.Servicebrakesarealways
usedtobringthevehicletoacompletestop.
