DieselExhaustFluid(DEF)isareactantthat’skeytotheSCRprocess.It’sanontoxic,
aqueoussolutionofureaandwater.Ureaisacompoundofnitrogenthatturnstoammonia
whenheated.Itisusedinavarietyofindustries,perhapsmostcommonlyasafertilizer
inagriculture.Theuidisnotammable,norisitdangerouswhenhandlednormally.
However,itishighlycorrosivetometal,particularlycopperandaluminium.Readthe
separatesectionconcerningthehandlingofDEFsolution.OnlyuseapprovedDEFuid.
UseonlyDieselExhaustFluidthatisclearlylabeledasmeetingISO-22241standards,
andcertiedbytheAmericanPetroleumInstitute.ThecontainermustdisplaytheAPI
certicationseal.Neveruseagriculturalorindustrialgradeurea.Useofuidsother
thanAPIcertiedDieselExhaustFluidwillcompromiseaftertreatmentsystemperformance,
increaseemissions,andmayimpactyourproductwarranties.NeverdiluteDEFwithwater
oranyotheruid.
ItisrecommendedthatDEFnotbestoredinextremehotorcoldconditions,orforprolonged
periods.Followtheinstructionsforproperstorageandhandlingasindicatedonthe
containerorprovidedwiththepurchase.
