Clutch(IfEquipped)
Toavoidshockdamage,releasetheclutchpedalsmoothly,withoutshock-loadingthe
driveline(especiallyongradeswhilecarryingheavyloads).Donotridetheclutchpedal.
Prematurewearoftheclutchfacingandreleasebearingmayresult.
CAUTION
Alwaysusethelowestdrivegear
combinationtostartthevehiclemovingto
avoidprematureclutchfailure.
1Tomovethevehicle,starttheengineandwaituntilitreachesoperatingtemperature.
2Disengagetheclutchbypushingthepedaltotheoor.
3ShiftthetransmissionintorstorLOgear(see"TransmissionShiftingInstructions"
forspecicprocedures).
4Releasetheparkingbrake.
CAUTION
IftheParkingBrakeindicatorison,doNOTattempttomovethevehiclebecause
drivelinedamagemayresult.
5.Engagetheclutchsmoothlybyallowingtheclutchpedaltocomeupslowly.For
comfortablestarts,donotapplytheacceleratoruntiltheclutchbeginstoengage.
CAUTION
Neverallowyourfoottoridetheclutchpedalwhentheclutchisengaged.Thiswillcause
prematurefailureandincreasedclutchwear.
6.Asthevehiclegainsspeed,continueshiftinguntilthetransmissionisinthehighestgear
possible(withengineinoperatingrange).
Note:Whenthevehicleisequippedwithatorque-limitingdevice,theenginemustbe
warmeduptooperatingtemperaturebeforeattemptingtomoveineitherREVERSEor
LO-LOrange.
