Rear-mountedPTOunits,forMACKtransmissions,arecategorizedaccordingtooperation.
IntermittentServiceThePTOunitisoperated,underload,forlessthansevenminutes
andthenallowedtocoolbeforeitisoperatedagain.
Note:IfaPTOunitisoperatedforlessthansevenminutesbutis"not"allowedtocooldown
beforeoperatingagain,itisconsideredinContinuousService.
ContinuousServiceThePTOunitisoperated,underload,forsevenminutesormore.
Note:Rear-mountedPTOunitsoperatingundertheContinuousServiceguidelinemustnot
berunatmorethan70%ofthePTOoutput-ratedtorque/horsepower.
Side-MountedPTOLocations
TherstchoicelocationforSide-MountedPTOsiseitherofthePTOopeningsonthe
mainbox.
Thesecondchoice,whichisthecompoundPTOopening,isrestrictedtothoseapplications
specicallyrequiringmulti-speedPTOswithreversecapability,suchassomemechanical
winchesoruniquespeedormultiplePTOrequirements.However,awordofcautionisin
orderwhenusingtheselocations.Operatorsshouldbetrainedtounderstandandfollow
theproperoperatingproceduresasdescribedinthecabinstructions,andavoidusingthe
neutralizingfeatureasapowerdisconnectforvehiclepropulsion.
