Jump-StartingEngine
Ifyouencounterasituationinwhichitisnecessarytojump-startanengine,usethe
followingprocedures.
WARNING
Batterieswhicharetobelinkedtogether
mustbeofthesamevoltage(12to12,24
to24).Takecaretoobserveproperpolarity
whenconnectingbatteries.Batteries
produceexplosivegases.Keepsparks,
ames,cigarettes,etc.,awayfrombatteries
atalltimes.Protectyoureyesbywearing
safetygoggles.BesurevehiclesareNOT
touchingeachother.
CAUTION
Toavoiddamaginganyelectronic
controllerswhenjump-startingaV-MAC
vehicle,alwaysturntheignitionswitch
OFFbeforeconnectingthebatteries.
1Connectpositive(+)cabletopositive(+)postofdischargedbattery.
2Connecttheotherendofthesamecabletothepositive(+)postoftheboosterbattery.
3Connectthesecondcable,negative(-)side,totheotherpostoftheboosterbattery.
4Makethenalconnectiontothenegative(-)batteryterminalofthestalledvehicle,
andstandback.
5Startthevehiclewiththeboosterbatteriesandthenstartthestalledvehicle.Shut
downthevehiclewiththeboosterbatteriesandremovethecablesinthereverseorder
ofconnection.
WARNING
DoNOTconnectthenalnegative(-)
connectiontotheframeofthestalled
vehicle.Thiswouldcauseallcurrentto
owthroughthemastergroundcircuit
breakerresultinginoverload.
